Monthly Trends
1st House - Primary Focus of the Self
The public in general this month will be focused on the new age, enlightenment, information, advanced technology, freedom, change. And thanks to Venus being present, especially change in what they want for themselves, what they desire, what they value and what they need in order to be comfortable. The Sun shines in Aquarius as Aquarius assumes rulership in the 1st house. Expect to see much criticism/discussion/focus on resources, natural resources, wasted resources and public resources (taxes, debt, social income programs, etc.). Also there'll be focus on the ocean, water, and possible erruption/disturbances/rumblings/explorations in the oceans depths. Information found in the depths. Precipitation of unusual magnitude may be eminent this month due to a 1st house Neptune & 10th house Earth as they Square in aspect. Neptune is also in such a wide angle with a 7th house Mars we can also expect to see attention to infectious disease. Also, much posturing, squaring off, standing up, and conflict vocalized between powers, including naval military forces. The stage is set for conflict and stand off. Public programs and proposed policy changes will be fraught with fantasy and illusion (Neptune again), even if good intentions are behind the ideas.
As a side-note: Sri Lanka could experience disastrous weather/earthquake/tsunami or nature's destructive forces this month.
2nd House - Money/Finance/Possessions
Banking and financial institutions, wall street and the treasury will experience growth this month with Pisces (institutions) in the 2nd house of Money and Jupiter's energy of growth, expansion and luck. But with Saturn in retrograde at 150 degrees Quincunx we can expect optimistic growth to be met with pessimistic force as fortune swings wildly between up & down - Libra in the 9th house will try to balance and temper extremes. My advice is to "cash out" when you win or get lucky and don't look back. Take what you can and leave nothing on the table. Religion and religious institutions will suffer financially - many people will break from the church and religious institutions in favor of freedom & new age concepts and philosophies. Even people in the middle east will be witnessed trying to break free from the institutionalized fundamentalism that has shaped their values, culture & societies for thousands of years. Jupiter & Uranus in the same house will create a strong desire to break free from confinement & restriction so be extra careful not to break the law - you will be tempted. We have already seen this played out perfectly (astrodrama) with the "church group" of 10 in Haiti that were warned not to try to take children out of the country. Now the Law has them in it's clutches with very few options it seems. They refused to accept the law as a guide, unwisely. Don't sabotage yourself in this way. We'll continue to see talk about changes in the laws regarding banking, lending, insurance, investment and credit. But nothing will get done...there's no real energy for it with Saturn and Mars in Retrograde. When it comes to buying, selling or trading this month, honesty is the best policy - scrutinize over the details of your trades and purchases. Be careful not to be deceived. Pisces brings the deceptive/confusing/hazy/cloudy energy of its planetary ruler Neptune into the 2nd house "undercover".
3rd House - Communication/The Mind/Thought Process
Aries takes control of the 3rd house this month. The 3rd house rules the thought process, the mind, communication and siblings. Since Aries is ruled by Mars this will set the stage for Aggressive talk or communication so think before you speak, especially at work and with loved ones. Mars rules anger so when emotions flare step back, take a deep breath a think before you say something that will further inflame an uncomfortable situation. Words carry extra flame this month. Be patient. Don't act hastily either, whether in anger or aggression, Mars as the planet of action may sabotage you here this month. Temperance is the key. With Mars in Retrograde right now you may find your mind in narrow focus making it difficult to be objective; making us all a little "narrow-minded" as they say. Also, since Mars is the planet of action/ initiative/energy new ideas will abound but don't expect much to be accomplished right now, again because Mars is Retrograde...action is inhibited and slowed down; the energy to take action and start or finish projects is restricted. A Retrograde Saturn opposes Mars from the 9th house adding to this theme of slowing down the energy to get things done, slowing down the process of work. Don't be surprised to find it hard to get out of bed in the morning...more so than usual ;0)
As a side note: A good example of this aggressive communication will be when Iran speaks to the World on February 11, the birthday of Iran's Islamic Revolution. Iran is planning huge celebrations of course and intends to use world attention to the date as an opportunity to announce it's progress with developing nuclear energy and becoming a nuclear power. This is not a prediction I'm trying to take credit for, I'm simply drawing attention to it as a matter of interest.
4th House - Home/Family/Food/Land/Security
Taurus takes over the 4th house this month bringing with it a need to protect the Home/Family/Food & provide Security for it all. It's a good time to review your insurance needs to protect everything to do with the home, including your vehicles and life insurance. These things protect the family from catastrophic loss. Be frugal with purchases for the home in the 1st half of the month and make sure you only buy what you need. Save money where you can. It's a good time to restructure your home loan if you can. Stock up on staple items like rice and frozen goods as well as dry goods that can be stored for a few months. Take advantage of supermarket surplus deals.
5th House - Love/Romance/Creation/Children/Speculation (investment & gambling)
The 5th house gets a visit this month from Gemini. This makes excellent conditions for speculation in real estate as Gemini rules real estate and the 5th house rules speculation, risk & gambling. 5th house also rules love, romance and leisure so take advantage of the fun side of Gemini and do something fun, exciting and romantic. The 5th house is also the house of creation so we'll see an increase in conception of Twins, Quadruplets, Sextuplets, maybe even Octuplets this month. Gemini rules communication, so expect to see and hear stories about new ways of communicating. The 5th house is ruled by the Sun which is of course the creative lifeforce energy of the universe; creative communication and birth of new forms of communication will make the news (Gemini is ruled by Mercury, Mercury rules News).
6th House - Work/Service & Health
Cancer moves into the 6th house this month deepening the need to feel satisfaction at work and satisfaction we're providing some service to the world. The Tail of the Dragon comes with Cancer right now and brings with it a demand of the universe to do something for the world using your natural talent. Give what gift you can to disenfranchised families. Food, shelter, money, provide a service, clothing, counseling, music, a laugh, a smile...whatever comes natural and easy for you - give it. You may not think much of it but others do. Cook a meal for an elderly person or couple that you know. Take them grocery shopping if they're unable to drive or do their shopping for them. Help them out. Be just a little more selfless than you normally are - reach out.

Of course no one really wants to see Mars in the 7th house of Marriage/Relationships/Partnerships and Contracts but here it is anyway. Not only that, but here we are face with Mars occupying the same house as Leo (ruled by the Sun...the Ego). Mars is very egotistical all on its own and in Leo that just compounds fiery energies like conflict, anger, violence, aggression, confrontation, explosive behavior; because Leo ruled by the Sun is of course a Fire sign. Mars can also be child-like and immature...impatient, because Mars likes to be on the move. It's a planet of Action. So, this month be careful what you say to your partners. Think before speaking in anger. Take a deep breath and reflect a moment before you hurt someone's feelings or hurt someone physically and do irreparable harm to the relationship. A wise saying goes: "when you drive nails into a picket fence you can always pull the nails out - yes - but you're still left with a hole there." Think of this in terms of your relationships to others, especially the significant relationships in your life. This energy is relative to the energies I described this month for the 3rd house as Aries (ruled by Mars) occupies the 3rd house of communication. Can one house stack up with the energies of another house in the same month to make things doubly difficult? You betcha.
The positive side of all of this is the Sun also rules Love and Romance and Fun (leisure activity). With Love and Romance we always find a sexual drive, and Mars together with Leo can create an incredible sparky energy to the sex drive - this is good for a Marriage, yes? Yes. Mars is Retrograde though so we all have to make an extra effort right now to take action on our ideas. So if you have an idea that can be fun for you and your partner don't allow it to just be an idea; do something about it, take action. Don't let a good month of these vital energies just pass you by because it sets up a great opportunity to put Fire into your Marriage and significant Partnerships. The Sun's energy is also very creative, Leo's theme is "I Create". So do it. Create. Create opportunity for positive, forward movement and momentum in your relationships because next month it changes. Next month the energy in this house will be Virgo's energy of Fussy, Picky, and Critical - and we all knows what that adds up to..."nagging" - Yuck!
Look also to use Leo and Mars energy to create new partnerships, to propose Marriage or get married. You'll be doing the world a favor because this configuration will certainly take it's toll on relationships that are bad right now and we'll see plenty enough divorces and separations because of it. You'll see the proof of it in the tabloids with headlines about who's breaking up with who, and what celebrities are losing/breaking relationships with sponsors and corporations.

This has been a theme since November '09 which is why I've left my 4-part video series active and downloadable on the Homepage. This is a trend we'll see all year as we progress rapidly into a new stage of the New Age. Capricorn has moved into the 12th house of the Subconscious, Cosmic Awareness, the Supra-Conscious, the Collective Conscience, God, and prophetic Dreams. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Saturn rules Form/Structure & Re-Form & Re-Structure. Pluto rules anything "Re" (i.e., re-birth, re-constructive, re-newal, re-lease, etc.). Put these 2 energies together and you've got a lot of CHANGE. Mass numbers of people will be changing their core beliefs this month (still), changing their belief system, re-evaluating what they've always been taught to believe, re-evaluating the faith in institution, God, Government, Social systems, political systems, caste systems (Hindu)...especially in Capricorn countries like England, India, Italy, Mexico, and Cuba...to name a few.
As a side-note: all the aforementioned countries could be involved in War, Open Hostilities, problems with their place in the World Organization, or Treaties & Agreements.
Mercury's presence in this house sets the stage for certain communication of the concepts I'm speaking of. And since this is 12th house activity I'm talking about communication in all multimedia forms...pictures, movies, videos, audio recordings, speeches, writings, public address, meetings in town halls and churches, and synagogues, and temples all around the world. The head of the Dragon is another energy making it's presence known here this month the the Head of the Dragon is in Capricorn right now. The head of the Dragon is Destiny so if you look carefully this month you will see many leaders emerging leading the way to Reform of 12th house energies.
